Reading the books of Josephus (biography, Antiquities of the Jews, etc.), historian and civic/military leader in the area now known as Israel back around 100AD. Fascinating book, with some interesting points. His perspective is worthy of note with regard to the Old Testament, especially. Highly trained as a priest, leader, legal adviser of Jewish law and history, he supplies some really good perspective on the Old Testament, and the current thought of the day concerning its writings, the culture back then, and consequent actions of people and God.

Some interesting takes he has on things back then are included here. Note that they may or may not be accurate; they provide background information, and need correlation with other sources of that day and at the end of the day, need to complement Scripture to be believed, if you have faith that Scripture is the inspired word of God.

Class notes on the Trinity. I taught a class on the book "Making Sense of the Trinity" by Millard Erickson. Good book, though a bit academic for a Sunday School. It was a strong biblical critique, and builds the case for equality amongst the Trinity quite well. Class notes attached here. Feel free to use them, or contact me if you want .doc files.
